I've been writing songs for more than 30 years, my mother was a huge influence in my life. She was a well known musician in our neck of the woods and Music filling our home daily. My mother played an old piano in our living room, She sang to me songs that she had written and we sang together while I sat beside her on the piano bench, she captivated me, on and off the stage, at an early age.
She performed nightly at local clubs with her band "Myra and the country Alibis". My mother also encouraged me to perform on stage. When I was 3 years old, my first live performance was singing, "Help me make it through the night" standing on old wooden coca cola boxes stacked up high on stage with my mothers band. I had a fan base at a young age, I performed many nights with my mothers band as well as with other local bands throughout my teenage years. I sang on live radio shows with many local bands in South Texas.
My mother and I often performed together, my boyfriend, and my father both sitting in the audience. One song that I enjoyed most singing with my mother was "Mama's He's Crazy". It was a very fitting song for me to do as I smiled at my boyfriend in the audience. a few people thought "The Judds" were in town, only to walk in the door to see my mother and I on the stage.
At 18, I made a decision, I chose to be a mother, I wanted to be a songwriter, not a performing artist.
I married my boyfriend in 1984 and had a son 1985, in 1986 I had a daughter, I would sing to them each night, still writing songs from time to time and watching them grow, not missing any moment of there lives and I knew that I had made the right decision, each time I kissed them goodnight.
My Dream of becoming a songwriter is still in my heart, my children are both now grown, and on their own lifes journey, I'm still writing songs and performing for my friends and family, I hope that a Performing Artist will sing and perform my songs for the whole world someday, I'm still happily married to my boyfriend whom I fell in love with 20 some odd years ago, who fell in love with me many years ago. I am still writing my own music, that I have never performed for a live audience, My Dream is to become a famous Songwriter.
